As a Network Member, do I have obligations?

Not many, but to be a network member, we need some cooperation from you.

  1. Encourage your employees to join the network as subscribers. You are not required to get them all on-board (in fact, if we discover that you are forcing employees to join, we could suspend your account). But nevertheless, the more employees who join from your organization, the more Access Points you get, which translate into discounts for you when running promotions on our network.
  2. Help us get the messages delivered. If your IT systems are blocking our emails, we might need you to add us to your safe-sender list.
  3. Help add and update professional data about your employees. We might need some help with updating title, role, department and contact information.

That’s all..

Also, in case you are worried, we do not allow any recruitment ads or calls through our network. So no one can poach your employees. Plus, we never share, rent or sell contact information (email addresses or phone numbers) or personally identifiable information to anyone.

The Idea behind Pravega

The original idea behind our platform was to find a way to make email marketing* as simple and accessible as other forms of online advertising like banner ads and search engine ads. But this required us to build a database of subscribers who gave us permission to filter commercial emails to them. Building such a database led us to the problem within the problem – how do we get subscribers easily and without millions of dollars in marketing?

Besides, with some knowledge of the value of B2B leads, and recognizing the much better ‘hygiene’ of users’ professional inboxes compared to their personal inboxes, we realized that having access to the professional inbox was essential.

Some brainstorming and solution iterations later, the idea of a cooperative network of companies was born. This would not only allow us to acquire subscribers less expensively, but also allow subscribers to give us access to their professional inboxes with their employer’s permission. Now that we planned to build a subscriber base for the email channel, why not add the much more powerful (and massively mis-used) phone marketing channel as well? One more fun problem to solve..

With careful study of the market and recognizing that the biggest problem in all direct marketing was that the recipients — consumers and corporate buyers — had no control over the inflow of marketing messages, we realized the importance, rather necessity, of placing the recipients in charge of the commercial message flow. The recipients must control who can contact them, when, how often and by which channel. So they only get messages they care to receive.

Of course, this was founded on the fundamental belief that consumers do want to receive marketing messages, but only on their own terms. And that’s the essential belief we operate on.
